Off out now Christopher but thanks. I'll have a look.
Good morning to you all, some good work yesterday, wine stoppers, and cricket that must be a six. My inspiration can from Tessa’s the men working in the road sketch. It set me to thinking how thing are done different now and what we use to achieve things are different. My first post in a series is of the old red  road lamps that seemed to be on every road work, when I was growing up, the cone of its day.

Having missed commenting yesterday, I find I’ve had to scroll back through three or four pages! You have all been so busy and productive. Hopefully I won’t miss anyone out, apologies if I do. Linda, your highland cow is wonderful, you have a real depth to his coat and he’s a handsome chap. Alan your pencil sharpener , what a great subject very well drawn. Marjorie your impressive ’left over paint’ piece is wonderful, no opportunity missed! Margaret, your sheep and landscape both super. I love your fountain pen work, simple, clean and stylish.  Anjana your lovely watercolour has what I call happy colours, very attractive. Christopher, interesting to see your art group flowers with the instructions. Jim your magpies are perky and lively looking, and I like the little injection of pink. Marjorie what an unusual subject in your wine stoppers, very nicely done. Dixie another great truck, you make them look easy but I’m sure they are anything but. You obviously have a great knowledge and affinity with these vintage vehicles, and since I started writing this you’ve popped in a lovely old lamp! Yes everything is done differently now, some for the better, some I’m not so sure about!  Well I think I’ve caught up, and just need to think what I will sketch today, and Margaret we are half way through February already! How did that happen? I do think we’ve all gained from this daily (almost) sketching since 1st January. I’m sure I have, and looking back even just through a few days, doesn’t it show that you don’t have to look far for inspiration, and what a great variety of style, subject and even media we are using. Not sure I’ll be going far today while Dennis rages, so no excuse for not sketching! X
Tessa I think you've said it all for everyone of us, there has been lots of great sketching and painting going on. I think its really helping with our drawing skills. I know I won't be posting tomorrow, will have visitors but will try and get something done today so keep up the good work!!
Great work by everyone over the last couple of days, sorry I've been busy and had no time to comment, but I have enjoyed looking at all your work.Dixie I remember the work lamps, them and the traffic cones ended up in my mates flat after a good Friday night out, why we never could workout. As it was valentines day yesterday I thought I would post a red rose

Christopher, I sneaked a look at your Sketch Club too - some lovely work and a really wide range of subjects - looks a great club; Dixie, I remember these old lights too - better than plastic!  Really nice sketch;  a lovely Valentine's rose, Alan.
A lovely Valentine rose Alan, I've gone old farm door today, inktense pencils and washes, finished with ink pen.
Linda, that old door sketch is lovely. Got friends coming round for dinner tonight, and was out visiting another friend this morning, so in between the hoovering etc here is a tiny (A6 sketch on an A5 pad) and quick sketch of some flowers.    Fountain pen and Caran D'Ache Neocolor II water soluble wax crayons.

Great sketching/paintings going on, very nice red rose Alan, your farm door with the added colours is excellent Linda and your pen and wash flowers are very beautiful done Margaret. I forgot to add that the lamp was drawn with a water soluble carbon pencil, and the red watercolour added after. The shaded areas are the result of the pencil darkening the thin red wash, I’ve never been sure of using soluble pencil with  watercolour, but have started to like the effect, will be doing some more similar sketches in the next day or so. Hope you are all warm and safe , Dennis is been a pain.
