Hi everyone I would like to echo Lindas sentiments, I just thought I would draw the weather here in cambridgeshire fens, as I love Winnie the poo drawing and sayings I will leave it up to him. Great work so far today. Linda I will post the pictures round by round.
You sure got that spot on Alan! I always loved Winnie the Pooh and this is great. Also Alan your walking boots are cleverly done, and Dixie, the ship looks good and your waves are on the ball , wouldn’t want to be out at sea today!

Hello to all. Couldn't post yesterday, no internet. Just got back home after weekend away in Cumbria. Amber warning and roads leading to motorway were flooded, car just made it. On over Shap and three overturned cars... but home at last. ( And, can you believe it, someone was towing a caravan! ). Will try to post something later.
Like the feet sketch, Christopher - you look very relaxed; Dixie, excellent, relevant, sketch - buildings look fine to me :)   Do hope all boats in the area of the storm are safely in harbour.  Alan, love your Winnie the Pooh sketch and quote!  Bit more than blustery here today!   Glad you got home okay Marjorie - eek, a caravan in this weather!
Glad you’re home in one piece Marjorie, sounds like a scary journey! I’m staying put, and just going to do some painting. Good excuse to stay in!
I share the the choice of staying in , it’s getting very blustery here in Buckinghamshire, and I don’t think we have it that bad. I dare say there will be a lot trees down on the Chiltern hills. I’ve been doing some sketching and trying out portraits, something i find difficult. Old Welsh miner, the jug is for water when working
Glad you home safe and sound Marjorie, seems to be easing a little bit here. Lovely Winnie the Poo sketch Alan, very appropriate today!!, like you portrait of the miner Dixie, he's definitely got character, here's my finished painting of St Oswald's Church in Grasmere, I have used gouache as a light wash over a small amount of white acrylic applied with the point of a palette knife, to give some texture to the stonework. Also a little bit of splashing on the tree foliage.
The texture effect has worked Linda, the whole effect is attractive with those subtle colours. Like your miner, Paul, he looks quite kindly! Alan, winnie the Pooh just fits the bill today, Piglet's ears are gently taking off. Just been very clever....turned back a page and am now " editing" to add what I missed😋Paul's excellent wc of a ship tossing on stormy seas, Margaret's usual effortless quick sketch🤢, had to laugh at Christopher's feet - what next? And Tessa's unusual sketch - strange what catches our eye. Paul, your owl is very nicely done, you get the idea of the feathers and Gudrun's abstract, very flowing and watery.

Nicely sketched, Dixie.  Your finished sketch is gorgeous, Linda - great colours and lovely mix of texture, line and wash.  Thanks, Marjorie - quick sketches are my comfort zone - I can't do beautiful pencil sketches like you can at all!
Linda your sketches are absolutely brilliant, so much to like about them. Thank you all for the kind remarks, particularly about the sketch, I nearly didn’t post it  I was so unsure.
I like your miner Dixie. He’s got that solid look of someone having a hard life. Your church is lovely Linda, and I like the way you’ve added texture. Love the splatter on the trees, very effective. Here’s my offering for the day, pen and watercolour started at my recent workshop and finished at home today. It’s been awful here but I can see a hint of blue sky now and the wind seems to be calming down, so I might even get outside!
What with people towing caravans, Trees blowing over here in cambridgeshire, Local flooding in Cumbria, more of a day to stay in bed and pull the covers over your head. Well done everyone to be doing what you have done. Paul great little portrait of a minor, full of life. never be afraid to show, your among friends here. Linda you didn't disappoint, love the idea of using acrylic for texture. Update on Winnie the Pooh sketch, it is being re-homed. A friend offered to buy, but going round for beer and food instead. Here is my final post for today, lighthouse keepers be ware.
