More lovely sketches today - emphasis seems to be on the natural world (mostly!) - fungi, dormouse, grapes, brown hare - and a husband :) Definitely a good day for staying in sketching - sleet here in the morning, snow in the afternoon. Bit short of inspiration so here is one of my eyes!

Another kind of mouse and another hubby, both very well done! Linda your hare is beautifully drawn and I’m sure ready for a lovely painting, and Margaret you’re still keeping an eye on us!
This is an old wood and wire fence I took a photo of recently, then drew in pen, gouache, acrylic and watercolour.
I’ll post the sketch before painting as well, as I quite liked that, not so sure about the coloured version.

sorry for the no show yesterday, I was running late. good little truck Dixie, it is well observed. The fence is really well drawn, I like the painted wood, very realistic, Tessa. Nice little mouse Christopher, and Margaret you have lovely eyes.
So here's why I never posted yesterday. Its a horse head done with pastel pencil and soft pastel.

Before I start..I'll comment from the bottom and work upwards.
Alan, that horse's head is smashing, perfect proportions as far as I am a horse expert. Is that grey paper? Whatever colour it is, the horse stands out. Paul, your trucks may be in the comfort zone but they are skilfully drawn and let you relax, it should be about enjoyment, though we sometimes take on more than we can chew! Of the two barbed wire sketches, Tessa, I prefer the coloured one - I really feel I'm looking through the wire. At first, when I read Christopher's post, I was thinking " real mouse" on the desk. It's very well observed, very 3D. Very good eye from Margaret ( you can tell you " looked", unlike some we see with eyelashes all around the eye ) . Linda's hare, on grey paper?, I look forward to seeing when it's completed. Off to sketch now.

You all seem to be surpassing yourselves today! Marjorie, that is a beautiful pencil sketch - that one should be framed, I think; Alan, that horse's head is super - fresh and realistic; another lovely old truck, Dixie; like both barbed wires, Tessa - so well drawn; and Christopher, that is a very well drawn mouse.

Running late again - just as well for me that we have this challenge going, or I don't think I would still be doing a daily sketch! Very quick, and tiny (A6 sized sketch on A5 paper) fountain pen and Caran D'Ache Neocolor II water soluble wax crayons. From one of my own photos - you may recognise the tulips from several sketches last month!
