I just did this little sketch of a tree with ivy outside our B&B bedroom near Dumfries. It's really a composite of four ivy-covered trees. I did it on acrylic paper with charcoal sticks and oil pastels.

That's looking really good Denise. Look forward to the finished  work.  Looking through my files I found a sketch (not a terribly good one) of Alfie, our Shi htzu who passed away about three years ago? I foolishly titled it "The last smile" because even now I can't look at it now without getting upset. Loved that little dog.

Spring is sprung the grass is riz the bird be on the wing....I thought the wing be on the bird.... Picked on Sams walk this morning Alkanet and Celendine.   So many lovely flowers "happening". Daisies , dandelions ,violets, blossoms and every field filled with raucous lambs.  Not of my best ...but what is out there right now.

Doesn't alkanet cause weals on flesh?  Or am I thinking of something else..... well, that wouldn't be a first, would it? Spring flowers from Sylvia, always a treat: and a testimony to the usefulness, apart from anything else, of a dog - gets you out and about and you see things to paint.

I picked a piece and noted nothing. It has quite fleshy leaves ...so it's possible . Just done the Google thingy it doesn't mention weals or stings...but you can make a red dye from the roots....didn't know that.

I do know that hog weed is a nasty piece of work, my late husband dug up said weed out of garden and had blisters up to his elbows!! He was in a state for weeks. I must get a sketch done this afternoon! Tah tah for now!

That looks very much like El Tajo (the gorge) in Ronda in Andalusia, Gillian. I've been there three times and it's awesome. Great rendition..
