Hi folks not been doing much recently but have just done a quick sketch with pastel pencils.
A five minutes white  gel pen sketch .
A five minutes white  gel pen sketch .
Looks excellent on blue background
You know - well of course you don't; why would you? - as I was saying before that rude interruption, I've never used a white gel pen.  Such things weren't around when I started out: we did have gouache, white ink, white chalks and so on, but gel pens weren't available.  However - I see our friend Pratim Das uses them, as well, as he uses so many things unknown to or not used by me -- perhaps I should move on a bit from the 1960s....  As Paul has done, being a forward-looking type: mind you, it's a bit of a miracle that I ever moved on to acrylics. Moving - seamlessly - to another subject: does anyone these days use silverpoint?  I used to, but have lost all my drawings, it was so long ago.  It's a problem finding the right surfaces to draw on - unless some kindly soul can push me towards them - though I see the wire-holders and silver wire are still available.   I'd like to have a go at it again; and lino-printing (I see Cowling and Wilcox do a set of materials for that): here's the snag, though - I paint in oil, acrylic, watercolour, sometimes in gouache; I'm about to take a dive into casein; I use pen and ink, pencils, charcoal, conté crayon, carbon pencils - how do you live long enough to employ all the materials available?   Hurry up with advice if you have any - not sure how much time I've got left....

On Holidays at the moment, been doing some sketches,  here’s one of Woodbridge  tide mill.

That’s a great sketch of the tide mill Alan. I’ve had to give up painting the last two day as it’s so hot the watercolour paint won’t flow so well nor blend . I did manage the very quick watercolour sketch using up a pice of old paper and the leftover paint in the pallet. Not very straight line due to wobbly hands and the paint dried as the brush move along . Pleased to say that I’m to have a operation on my left hand in a weeks time and will them be able to move my fingers and use it properly. It’s nice birthday present as its the day before my birthday, they offered to change the date but having waited over eighteen months i decided to go for it .
That's a really good sketch Paul. Best wishes for the operation.
Thank you George .
The boat is a great sketch! I'd put in in the gallery.
