Had my email brief from my sketch club today, it was to draw any kind of bottle so this is mine a bottle of Gin I had to hand. Done with coloured pencils. Nice to see some good sketches again and that this thread is still going strong.
Lovely hands Dixie, a sweet idea, and a cute donkey Alan. Christopher, I know, I know, the bottle of gin was just sitting there waiting to be drawn! Nice one, unusual bottle.
Thanks Tessa, nice donkey Alan, in not a gin fan Christopher but I do like the look of some of the bottles, yours I’d excellent. Well it 5:20 in the morning and I’ve had one of those night with all sorts of rubbish going on in my head. Just had a cuppa and thought I’d post this now. It a4 size on drawing paper, water soluble medium wash pencil with a small amount of watercolour. It something I’ve been wanting to try and currently experimenting with, it from a photo taken last year i of the horse in a field near the woodland where I volunteer. It’s often laid down and the owner has a notice asking people not to ring as it’s quite normal, the photo was just after it got up and was shaking down.
Dixie that’s a super big horse. We have a riding school within a few 100 yards of us which I pass most days heading off on my morning walk. I constantly think I’ll draw some of the horses but of course just as you start they move! I also had a bad night, awake at three with worries going round in my head, probably the norm for a lot of us at present. When daylight comes and the birds start singing it all seems a little better. Chin up and keep on with the art!
Thanks Tessa, it was fun to do  it was basically a line drawing that’s was changed with a little water only took about 10 -12 min. I’m one of those people that cannot sleep in daylight so the early morning have me awake with the sparrows.
Actually sketched these on my walk this morning, as dog was in slow motion mode and didn’t mind waiting. Only quick sketches of a large ram and a pony which I can see now has wooden legs!
A very quick sketch from a magazine I bought on Thursday.
Some great looking sketches, Like the horse Dixie, Christopher an unusual bottle shape, Nice Little sketch Tessa, what a great day to be outside, and I love the spitfire Gary. Here is my sketch for today. It is of one of Dawns photos, it off the Bee.
I'm setting the paintings for our local art group. This week it was a photo of the Lake District. I started out doing a sketch of it which  ended up more a drawing which begs the question: 'When does a sketch become a drawing?'  Well whatever it it is here it is:

Ah now Michael, there’s a discussion to be had! I suppose the idea of sketching generally is that it’s quite loose and pardon the pun, but ‘sketchy’ where a drawing is probably thought of as being more finished and perhaps precise. A sketch might become a drawing? What do you think? I like the two flying items today, Alan’s bee and a spitfire from Gary. The variety never ceases.
Good question Michael, I’m thinking on the same lines as Tessa, a sketch just gives you and impression or a feel for the subject, like a line or a shape or my be where shadows are. Where a drawing gives you more detail.
A sketch generally takes me a few minutes, five maybe! It’s just enough to get down the main structure etc- often using a marker pen. If I’m doing a drawing, I’m looking for lots more detail, and certainly a more polished work, say thirty minutes upwards! But I generally prefer sketching in the main, It’s more interesting and immediate!
