At least you have decent views from your window Ron! Think I’d find drawing something that big a bit intimidating but maybe should give it a try. Sounds like you’re making progress on the house, even if you can’t view any yourself yet.
Katy, yes you would think that if masks are needed anywhere it would be in a hospital!

I’ve missed a few days , some really good artwork over the last few days. I won’t go right back and if I miss anyone out it due to neglect not your art work. The dragon wip is looking good with some colours, animals never do what you want them too Tessa you end up following them around. Gillian that quote a good selfie, but I think your much prettier than that, love the sunflower Katy. Lovely to see your work Lew, hopefully you will get your buzz back soon your work still remained excellent. I have to say Tessa it scares me how people just wonder around quite unaware of the risks, but in a hospital that’s even more scary. Nice sketch Ron , you will be out on parole before long hope you find a nice home. I’m adding this today was working on a ship but have lost interest in it. It’s a sketch for a painting in watercolour., Fiona mentions in her WIP about liking the early stages of her paintings,I have started to like how my painting look at this stage. Just recently I’ve started adding shading early as it seems to lift the sketch used Payne’s grey.

What bizarre times we live in, we're all doing portraits of people with masks...and it seems perfectly right now. Let's hope this doesn't become the norm for much longer. Like the car Dixie. I sometimes use a paynes grey wash in the shaded areas. If the paper's OK, you can lay a coloured wash over it.

So many posts since yesterday evening! Lots of different subjects and styles! It’s worrying to hear about the lack of masks in the hospital and the abandonment of social distancing in the UK. Still very strict here in Spain and wearing masks everywhere! Today I have done a quick sketch of distant mountains using oil pastels. Never used them before so not sure about how to use them, as a quick sketch it’s passable but would have liked more blending which is difficult with them. We live and learn.

Hi Gillian, I’m no expect at anything but I do use oil pastels. I really have to work hard with the cheaper ones so need a tough paper or recently tried mixing with a drop of baby oil, spreads well but takes ages to harden, just like oils I suppose. Or quicker drying mix with a drop of turps. The better quality ones are more malleable. I’m just trying to get to grips with oils for the first time, don’t think it’s for me because I’m too impatient, but I hate waste so will persevere.
Hilary, if you edit your picture before uploading then it should be ok, I’ve had the same problem.

Love the characters in your sketch Lew. Katy’s sunflowers inspired me to sit in the garden today practicing leaves, tree bark and a fantasy flower. Not sure why but my photos are uploading the wrong way round.
