There are some great daily sketches on this thread which made me realise I haven't contributed much to it recently. So here are a few of my sketches done in cafés over the last few weeks (months). I often sit in a café and sketch the folks around me and some of the paraphernalia. I usually am ignored, occasionally people stiffen up and turn away. They are not awfully accurate but it beats scrolling on my smart phone.  From 'The Range' late one Saturday afternoon - devoid of people.  Costa @ MK University Hospital - waiting for my missus to complete her physio after a knee op. Old chap in flat cap studying the crossword.  Shorts weather - outdoor seating at a local café , with dog.  Recent one - there were more dogs than people in this day - here's just one of them with trained humans.
Lovely Andrew, they remind me very much of Sylvia's quick Sketching from life. I really like the lines and flow of this style of sketching.
Great thread guys! I am back after a period of falls, tremors and micrography.I am back to normal if not better!

Great news Gillian! Hope to see some of your lovely art here again?
The best news I have had in  a while , looking forward to seeing more of your artwork in the gallery.
A bit of a doodle with dubious perspective and shadows - An imagined Mediterranean townscape.
Great “ doodle “ Andy! Will it result in a painting?

Thanks Tessa, possibly,  I am between paintings at the moment so might use this as a starting point for something.
This morning’s pen and ink sketch, based on last week’s LAOTY episode on HMS Wellington. Photo from the programme. Might make for an interesting oil painting…
That’s interesting Alan, “photo from the programme.” I take screenshots from programmes, catching action, animals for example. Great for sketching, no fussy detail so great for painting.
Co-incidentally, today is Chinese New Year...of the horse. Which I've just proposed for our Friday art group subject. Like the idea of screen shots of action on tv. Not going to try a Stubbs though. :-) Welcome back Gillian. Good to see you're feeling better.
