Excellent observation - have you noticed (sure you have) that when you zoom in on sheep, they're actually quite complicated to draw, especially straight on? Their legs don't seem to go where you'd expect them to.
Just as well they don't bother me: I have a friend with a peculiar problem - if we walk past a field of sheep, they go berserk - the moment they see him, they want to attack him: I've never seen anything like it - immediately, any field of sheep, anywhere; one sight of my friend Bob, and they just want to kill him! This is really true, and I have no idea at all, and neither has he, why they so hate him. He certainly couldn't pause to draw them; or - perhaps it's passion? Come to me, my proud beauty, I just must carry your offspring? But I don't think it is that - they just seem to hate him! I've never seen anything like it. Answers on a postcard, please - I'm sure Bob would love to know why mutton wants to murder him.

Some ideas Robert, don't know if any of this would apply to your friend of course. Prey mindset, and apparently are aggressive towards certain individuals. They see direct eye contact as a threat, also they don't like sudden or quick movements or loud noises. Rely heavily on scent for social cues, could be his aftershave? Approaching from behind creates immediate fear but it doesn't sound like he does that.

I was kind of happy with it but it also reminded me why I like drawing animals in coloured pencils mainly. Eyes are a bit off too 🤪
