Base sketch for a painting, more detailed and complex than I have tried before The Bear at Rodborough a sprawling old hotel with parts dating back to 1755 .
You've made a grand job of your sketch, Dixie.
Thank you Carol it’s progressing well, still a lot to do  I started this ink sketch last night, using black India ink and the caramel brown ink that’s not totally waterproof hence the effects of the wash , I will add a bit of colour to the boats and possibly the sky .

I sometimes feel that I have parts dating back to 1755, but  never mind.  I salute your ambition in  tackling that old pub, and note that you do move on to other projects at quite the rate of knots - variety, it seems, is the spice of your life.
I can understand that feeling Robert , sometimes I feel a thousand years old . I do like to have different subjects on the go , it fits in to my restlessness and getting bored quickly, having different ones on the go enables me to change from  one to the other and stops me fiddling with one painting to the point of destroying it.

A6 dip pen and fountain brush pen , the white is from an acrylic paint pen .
A good strong image. Like the contrasts.
I bought this A4 paper a while back for calligraphy work. Decided to try out some Noodlers Walnut ink on it as the colour, to my eye, seems too delicate to take black. I've done a few nature studies, nothing too exciting, but I do like the effect of the ink and the colouration of the paper combined. I have stippled the rose and Oak, have left the moth as I think stippling this would be too strong an image overall. I like using a bigger sheet to add more detail, after some searching looks like I'll have to make my own.

Like this Carol , the ink colour is so good. Indian ink , dip pen and caramel brown ink from fountain brush pen, old fisherman repairing nets .
Very well done Paul
I missed your really excellent Rose and Oak drawing Carol. The stippling adds quality to the drawing, especially on the Acorns.
Not a subject we see often, you've done a good job of it, Dixie. The scenes you present always have a wonderful calmness about them. Dixie and George, thankyou for your comment, nature studies are my favorite subject. When checking the stock or walling etc, something will take my eye. At the moment, the bramble flowers look a very inviting subject. big and blousy this year, also the Hawthorn.
