, This is the basic sketch of the Paddle Steamer Rhyde , that was sadly left to decay on the IOW , initially it was to be a tourist attraction but that seems to have failed. Robert made mention of it on one of my recent painting , he will know that this sketch is based on a photo taken a long while back when the ship was still recognisable as a paddle steam ,now very little left .I will add the base colours and the rust to this and additional details if needed , you will not thst it’s been painted on a failed drawing as parts are still visible.

It's a shame this boat was left to decay, I'm sure it would be an asset for tourists to take trip on, now. No doubt it has an interesting backstory. Nice w.i.p, Dixie.
Yes she did Carol became HMS Rhyde in WW11 when she acted as a minesweeper and took part in the DDay landings protecting thee ships from mines , plus all the happy time people had onboard travelling to and from the IOW .
You have piqued my interest with your post, Dixie. I'll be doing some research about this little lovely. Thanks.
The Ryde Queen  - now a very disreputable, broken down old lady; it's scandalous that this once lovely boat has been allowed to fall to bits as she has, she deserved  a far better end.  Various attempts have been made to save her, but the advance of rust (one of Paul's favourite things!) has  rendered her fragile and unsafe even to  board.  It's so  depressing to see her today: Paul's drawing (painting to be) will  be a good memorial.
I will do y best with this one Robert and the look to maybe doing a  version of her in her best frock . There are a lot of nice photos online to work from , will see if I can find something with the IOW in the background.
The 'old girl' is in a mess, and it is a shame she's been left to go into disrepair. It was nice to read she had some time on the River Thames. She's slowly joining the other fossils along the I.O.W coastline. Will be a good painting in your hands, Dixie. Maybe add a discrete ammonite or two.
A black and caramel base ink sketch that I will add colour too .

The caramel ink is a great colour Paul. I did this scribble in biro whilst on hold on the phone to my car insurance. Phone calls are so frustrating these days. You spend a lifetime getting through to a person then you are on hold.
I like that Denise. A super drawing.
Great sketch Denise , so much time wasted on phone lines , a good way to spend the time. I’ve had one of those weeks where I haven’t really been in the mood to paint or sketch, what I have done enviable went wrong, I did the ink work for this last night and decided this afternoon to have a silly session and just use up colours in the two pallets I had on the go . Not me t to be a serious piece but it was quite enjoyable, despite it looking silly .
Great scribble Denise.
