An appealing paining, Dixie. When I started painting, many years ago, I liked to use inks ( I still do) moving the pigment about, as you have done, can give delightful effects.
Thanks Carol . I was trying the caramel ink last night on different surfaces to see how it worked and the effects I could get with it , the old boat is in a sketch pad on normal thickness drawing paper , the second is on watercolour a painting board the sketch was a half completed one that’s I had put aside, nothing to loose trying the ink out , black and the caramel brown .  Both on white paper , the light is making it have a blue tint.  B
Historical clothing a draw for me.
So many great sketches to see in this thread, nice work everyone.

The blue tint has added an old-world atmosphere to your work, Dixie. The village scene is great. I bought some grey and a grey-blue card from Trago, today, they need cutting down, to try out some pen and wash work. Haven't decided a subject, yet. After reading, Tanja's miniature post, can't find it this evening, have tried a few small painting this evening, so I'll post them here. They're on The Langton 7"x5" not paper. This was small enough for my eyes. I like your period character drawings, John.

very nice Carol, here is the thread maybe you search?  https://www.painters-online.co.uk/forum/artistic-inspiration/miniature-art/?page=7
Thanks Carol, like your sketches . Still experimenting with the caramel ink , the dark shadows on the lower one was initially unintentional, put some neat ink on the paper and it was instantly absorbed then used water to dilute it . It’s in a pad I’ve not used for this type of work as yet , the problem is the paper is soft and the nib lifts a little bit off as you sketch plus it’s very absorbent.
You gotta sketch a figure or two.
Good ink work folks.
Another day another sketch.
Really like your new ink Paul, great sketches John.
A good pen and ink wash, Dixie. Soft paper does drink the ink, however, it has produced a lovely deep effect. A nice selection of drawings, John. I'm off to Shrewsbury, today, my camera is fully charged. Now the brushes and paints are out, at last, maybe a bit of inspiration for coming weeks.
