Welcome to this weeks bonus artist thread , I’ve played bit of a came with the title introduction I’m not immediately revealing who the artist is . It’s someone well know on POL and takes part in the forum and posts work in the gallery. There are so many artist on this site who I can honestly say I find their artwork inspiring so why have I singled out this particular person , I know you will guess who it is before I post the name .  This persons work has always been interesting , unique and definitely their own  style, it’s nit the artwork alone that makes her ( first guess) inspiring it’s that despite a now severe disability she continues to paint and find new ways of painting and sketching , . Not only is she a good artist she  is also a published author (second guess ) and wrote about her beloved pet  with who she shares her home . Originally from Lancashire and now living in North Wales (last guess) a place she shared with her late husband and their family, the area is a source of inspiration for her despite all her travels around the world . YES it’s Sylvia Evens , wasn’t that difficult to guess was it . Many of use on POL suffer with various ailments and disability but for me the worse thing thst could possibly happen is to loose my vision, and sheer torture fir it to happen gradually. This is why I admire and find Sylvia especially inspiring, she will give me hell, for saying that but who cares .  I do chat with her quite frequently and have come to know the difficulty she faces to produce a painting , image being able to see with the outer edges of your vision the central part is a black dot . To make it worse it’s the injections needed to maintain or rather slow the process. Sorry if I’ve upset anyone with my description of what she puts up with . Now I have dug a deep hole for myself and no doubt will get an ear full from Sylvia. The attached paintings were sent to me by Sylvia when I asked her permission to post her artwork and feature her as my bonus artist I do t know the date order but the very last one I’d one she did this week following a discussion about landscapes . It’s her latest attempts at continuing to paint and I personally find it a lovely painting and I’m definitely inspired . Do please look at her gallery and select a paint you particularly like . Excellent idea Dixie! As many will know Sylvia has a way with flowers, and irises in particular so I’ve chosen a couple of these delicious flowers to show. I could choose a lot more but will just start with these.

Sylvia’s flower paintings are delightful, but so are her plein air figures that she captures so well…these are my personal favourites! And how could I not mention old Zorba the Greek, riding his bike in his Santa hat, the fattest posterior one could imagine on full show…just brilliant! But a special mention for taking the plunge and getting her little book published! It’s full of delightful sketches, top class illustrations in fact…and a truly delightful story line.

The simplicity of work from an experienced artist.  The confident brush strokes and great colour use.  A good choice Paul.  I'll have the pair of Irises please. 😉 ;-)

Wow Paul. What a great idea! Sylvia’s work is expressive and creative - and funny! I’ve just come home after being at a Blues concert in the village so I’ll be back with my choices soon. Here we go…

Choosing some favourites from Sylvia's galleries is a difficult task - there is so much on offer.  Often her work has a humorous element to it, as shown by my first two choices, though the humour in the second is more subtle.  My third example I chose because it had a certain elegant simplicity, paintings don't have to be complicated to be winners.
