This year saw my half centinery. It was interesting to see which famous Artists shared their birth year with me, so a Google search was in order. To my surprise, a long list came up. People like Michelle Pfeiffer, Tim Burton, Kate Bush, Madonna. I was quite surprised because I didn't know that any of these painted! Realising my mistake, I refined my search to see which great artists were the same age as me. The only name that came up was Bill Watterson. ...Who? Researching this character further, I realised I had been admiring his work for years on a regular basis without taking in his name. The cartoon strip Calvin and Hobbs has run regularily in a national newspaper and I've always enjoyed reading it. Looking into him further, his political cartoons are very insightful and well drawn. So Bill, it's great serving my half century with you! My present from the kids was to pilot a light aircraft-great fun. We flew over the Ladybower reservoir where they practised for the Dams raids. This was quite significant for me as I have painted a large oil called The Dambusters which was subsequently purchased by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) www.timfisherartist.co.uk
