Lovely image to match the story Earl.

I agree with Fiona. you've brought the words of the song to life with your beautiful watercolour.

While travelling through some of Australia's outback recently I heard a country music singer bring much of outback life to his audience through words and music. One somewhat poignant song that spoke visually to me was entitled "The Chimney and the Rose". I felt that I should try and get something of that song into a painting. So I created a scene. I called the painting: There lie the secrets of the Chimney and the Rose". Here are a selection of the words: "There's an old stone chimney and a wild bush rose Out in the fields where the cattle roam. Where the cool, clear waters of the Alleyn River flow There lie the secrets of the chimney and the rose. A frail old couple pushed on the rusty gate ... the path was gone, beneath the tangled weeds like the flowerbed where the garden used to be ... Their love was born and nurtured in this place ... When a band of gold was a sacred thing and the vows they spoke honoured to the end. ... Life moves on and time brings change ... Misty eyes turn away from the chimney and the rose" The softness and glow of watercolour makes this an ideal medium for this painting.
