1860 school toilet - sketchbook page

Very true Michael - and it’s Winter right now.

A lovely painting - we had very basic primary school toilets too, so it's brought back some memories

I love this. Not only is it beautifully painted,it’s full of architectural character

Thankyou Heather for your ongoing interest And Thankyou Diana - I study your work carefully and greatly admire your ability to breathe such life into simple objects using limited palates and great composition and above all a mastery of values in your lighting effects.

This is a first, I would think? We've had barns, cottages, tractors, sky-scrapers, stately homes, palaces, cars, decaying doors with rusty hinges, but I don't remember in all the time I've been on POL seeing a painting of a loo before.... and it's a great little painting!

Haha Robert - here in Australia many of us oldies have fond memories of our back yard outhouses during our schoodays in the early 50s before septic or sewage or TV . Many stories and jokes center on the dunny or shithouse as school kids called them where we sat on the throne or thunderbox with the blowflies reading comics. If you want to really get it read chapter five of 'Unreliable Memoirs' by the late Clive James but I warn you you may die laughing.

That could be turned into a great little art studio!

Small watercolour looking past our Heritage backyard toilet. We live in an old sandstone primary school built in about 1860. This was the original boys and girls toilet . Painted in my Moleskine 5x8" watercolour sketchbook.
