Yes, the nose is of heroic proportions, but that doesn't matter, you've produced an arresting and colourful image, and I agree with you that YouTube (provided you choose your tutors with care) is a very useful resource.

This is a portrait painting effort painted along with a U Tube demonstration Artist using the Gouache and Acrylic Varnish as medium process . I like the colour combination and overall result even though I realise the mid-face is a bit too long.

I'm an 81 year old retired surgeon . Art has been my lifelong obsession away from work and now my main focus in life together with woodwork. I enjoy creating and making in any medium but have always gravitated to drawing and watercolour. I've also had limited training in etching and sculpture.
