No - but the theme is clear enough, and I expect I'm being fairly stupid.......... Trouble is, I've got All Quiet on the Western Front in my head, and it's crowding everything else out.

very clever idea, and i like this painting very much, but i have no idea about the title of the book you are portraying.........the words in the background are french and from what i can make out it says 'for the day of' but the words get cut off. Probably nothing to do with it :-p but i like the painting :-)

Julie, Sue and Glennis you were right of course! Robert you obviously had the WW1 connection worked out. Rebecca the music doesn't have a direct connection to the title but I liked the patterns it made. The background is collage with an acrylic ink wash and the birds, soldier and cross are painted in Golden acrylic paint. I have posted the complete canvas so you can see how it looks.
