Pretty confident that there's no British bird starting with an X or a Z - I seem to remember there's an African finch whose name starts with an X, but couldn't swear to it and can't remember it. Still! Never mind: I like your avocets - lovely shapes.

Thank you Robert. I think you're right, I've 'googled' birds starting with X and Z, there are quite a few but unfortunately none of them are British. I've a long way to go before reaching that end of the alphabet so maybe some new species will have been discovered by then! Get those binoculars out over there on the Isle of Wight!
