Brian and Betty - Upside down one-liner

Brian and Betty - Upside down one-liner

This is brilliant. I love the expressions on the faces - so enquiring and quizzical. The Blown Away one I posted was also one I tried to draw conventionally and completely failed, but the upside down worked. It seems that you're having a similar experience with this one. I am sure our overall drawing skills will really improve with all this experimentation and observational practice - certainly hope so. Keep posting as I am enjoying your work so much.

What a result..Fantastic!! You've managed to get the turn of their heads just right, they're both looking at something and ready to investigate whatever it is! I too found it easier upside down, perhaps it's to do with instinct and going 'with the flow'? I don't know, but like you, I'm discovering a lot and enjoying the whole one line thing. Instead of wondering what to draw, there's now too much material to choose from. I even considered using pictures of men playing golf yesterday, I ask you, what's going on, golfers??...LOL

Thea and Louise have said so well, this is such a lovely painting Christine! I don't know how you get the line to work so accurately but freely at the same time. My pen goes all over the place but probably it is the personal style that plays through. I'm so glad that your PB is gone and you can enjoy your watercolours again!

So like border terriers Christine you have drawn them with skill (upside down too)

These one liners are popular and this is very good.

Thank you Thea, Louise, Satu, Carole and Glennis. Aren't we having fun! I can spend ages looking for something to inspire me, gathering together the materials either for a painting or collage, spending hours doing it and sometimes being disappointed with the result. With the one-liners there seems to be no shortage of inspiration, as Louise has said, and they are so quick to do. Because we know they will not be perfect there is no pressure to turn out a 'masterpiece' and they mostly do work quite well.

These are really coming - love the rather comical expressions.

Love this, Christine! Their expressions are priceless!

My sister's Border Terriers. I tried drawing this one the right way up first but it didn't turn out nearly as well, don't know why! I'm loving this technique and also the fact that I'm using watecolours again!
