A lovely bright painting, lovely the odd splashes of colour to the roof ,has a slight look of a Hoppers work. Very nice Wib.

Beautiful Wib every thing works just right

Lovely bright colours, Wib. I like much the rock on the foreground, particularly the one on the right hand with superb light and shadows.

Nice work Wib, that lighthouse is much grander than mine.

London, Ontario? That rings a bell...Many moons ago I lived in Guelph and Puslinch County...I do like your rendering here....So much to appreciate visually, colour, texture, I think this is acrylic...am I right? Your painting has that indefinable quality which says North America, possibly the painting style.....

totally captivating! The lighthouse is splendid with the person in red giving the scene some scale.

Thank you Andre, Dennis, Cesare, Stephen, Ruth and Sarah. Lighthouses, as you can gather, are definitely one of my favourite subjects - there is something about them that are so visually appealing.

I always see lighthouses' as gaurdians...sentinals of the sea and as you say, of life. I always feel sorry for their solitary existance. I live on the south west coast of Scotland and there are quite a few of these sentinals. Love this WIb!

Thank you, Fiona - I totally agree with you.

I’ve always had a love of lighthouses – partly I think because of their frequent isolation, partly because of the ruggedness of the landscape, partly because of the very significant role they played in navigation safety. I’m sure there were many ships and sailors who owed their very existence to the piercing beam from atop a lighthouse. Sadly, now with modern technology, the vast majority of lighthouses have been decommissioned. My reference for this painting is a lighthouse on the coast of Maine, USA, with some compositional modifications.
