Light Upon A Hill
I’ve always had a love of lighthouses – partly I think because of their frequent isolation, partly because of the ruggedness of the landscape, partly because of the very significant role they played in navigation safety. I’m sure there were many ships and sailors who owed their very existence to the piercing beam from atop a lighthouse. Sadly, now with modern technology, the vast majority of lighthouses have been decommissioned. My reference for this painting is a lighthouse on the coast of Maine, USA, with some compositional modifications.
