Beautiful scene who tell a story, Wib, and well painted. Lovely bright colours. Great composition.

Exquisite Wib. My idea of a typical old attic.

Very nice colours in this,Wib. I love attics. Childhood memories of adventure and treasure hunts. And getting in trouble with my Dad for putting my foot through the ceiling !!

It's funny how we associate the mind/brain/subconscious with the attic.....it reminds me of a quote by my first literary hero Sherlock Holmes; “I consider that a man's brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose....... It's from A study in Scarlet if you're interested to read the full quote. I like how the owner of this attic has taken the trouble to hang a painting.lol Beautifully painted and thought provoking as always Wib.

Thank you Cesare, Adele and Bob for your comments. Bob, I remembered we lived in a house once where you had to be very careful with your footing because of the insulation covering what solid flooring there was - otherwise an unexpected trip to the room below! Fiona, thanks for the quote from Sherlock Holmes. Memories do give us a sense of structure and meaning - a little like building blocks. I thought I'd include a picture in this attic - you know how there are some pictures that have sentimental value - maybe a first painting effort or child's proud gift to a parent. You don't know what to do with it years later - you don't want to throw it out so it gets pride of place in the attic! :).

Love this nostalgic painting Wib, the meaning and the way you have used colour and blending especially on the wall.

Great painting Wib, love your detail.

Thank you Carole and Margaret.

A very evocative piece, with a lovely charm and warmth to it. Very nicely done, Wib.

Thank you, Seok.

Memories have an elusive quality to them and yet they are the gifts from the past that we carry with us into the future. Not all memories, I know, would be considered gifts – many are painful and would be best forgotten if they only could. But fortunately the cherished memories tend to outweigh the others. Objects, places and people can be triggers for memories – maybe it’s “stuff” stored away in an attic or basement or maybe in the face of the person walking toward us.
