Foraging Fox
For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to wild and lonely places. I’m not sure why. It’s not because I’m a recluse: maybe it’s because I love solitude, maybe it has something to do with the edgy nature of wilderness where survival can never be taken for granted but, I think, mostly it’s the bringing together of a stark uncompromising beauty married to the transitory and fleeting part of life itself. In this painting of a foraging fox crossing a cold bleak ridge in a snowstorm searching for sustenance wherever it can be found captures for me something of that feeling.
