Thanks all for the comments; appreciated. I painted most of the background in as very short time Diana, just adding different colours in and overlapping in what I saw as Flint's method. In retrospect, it would have been better on rougher paper The main concentrated areas are the shadows with no sharp edges.

The colours and tones are reminiscent of Sir Russell Flint Jim and the beautiful female. Yes I am a great admirer of his work.

to Sir William Russell Flint's "A gift of Gladiolai". A poor substite for the real thing because Russell Flint was a genius, I finished it this morning and was reasonably pleased with the result. Watercolour impressionist style.
