Watercolour on canvas? It seems to work for you. Lovely

A lovely painting. The colors and effects are fabulous.

Thank you both for your positive feedback... it is a very difficult way to use way to use watercolour as the paint lifts so each layer has to be careully applied, but some lovey spontaneous effects can be achieved. The painting must be sprayed with laquer on completion. There ae now gessos availably from Schminke which can be applied to primed canvases to make them suiable for use with watercolour. And Frederiks also make watercolour canvas, but it isn't easily available in this country.

I just came across your lovely painting today ......what a joy it is. Watercolour on canvas! I must try it ! So well done.

Thank youPatricia. Painting on watercolour on pre primed canvas is difficult- see above. Remember to prime with aqua Gesso ( see comment above ) and spray with fine acrylic laquer on completon... to fix the paint. It will not affect the colour and will not yellow. Very interesting results achieved- worth the effort !!

This painting was done from a live flower. Size 70 x 50 cms. The paint was used in layers- each one drying before applying the next as the canvas was not absorbant. The paint was-in some cases- allowed to 'do it's own thing' and the effects form part of the finished pattern. It is important to spray the finished work with a light matt finish laquer in order to hold the paint intact.
