Very striking portrait and I do like your washes and use of colour. The eyes are particularly compelling. What did your son think of it?

Thanks Thea......I think son was impressed- he's asked to have it for his flat when it comes out of the exhibition it's going in.He rather likes the quietly 'menacing' look, as he put it !!!I just wish he'd stop shaving his hair so short....!

Love the ebb and flow of the colors, and the play of light across his face. As Thea says, it's a very compelling piece.

Thank you for your positive comment-it may spur me on to do another......!!

Hi Vivien, typed in your name and found this lovely watercolour which I'd missed. It's quite a change for you and the loose effects work very well! It's a super portrait. Lovely to see your work here again!

Hello again Louise- thanks for the comment.. as you say - quite a change !! I don't get on this site as much as I'd like to- we moved house 2 years ago and have been very busy doing alterations etc. all finished now, so hopefully more painting time - and more challenges. I follow your work though..always good to see.

September 2011. A portrait of my son. Not my usual choice of subject, but I felt like a challenge.....and it certainly was !! I wanted to do a different portrait to the usual and remember seeing a multi coloured format some years ago- I took photos of my son and picked out a 'serious' one -so this is the result of the experiment !!
