Beautiful portrait!!

Powerful portrait painted with emotion I can tell Martin

Very good Martin and the colouring works so beautifully.

A lovely portrait Martin and a lovely way to connect with your mum. It’s made me feel emotional, it’s made me think too.

A wonderful tribute - to me it moneys tenderness

Superb portrait Martin, love the colours.

A beautiful portrait Martin.

What a lovely, wistful expression Martin. I’m sorry for your loss and what better way to celebrate your mother than painting her portrait. Wonderful work.

engaged with that 1940s feeling straight away, reminds me of my mothers old photos. lovely.

Beautiful- a lovely thing do do, I hope it's helped you through a difficult time. Your mum was a lovely 19 year old.

What a lovely thing to do - excellent portrait!

Tremendous.

Thanks all for your lovely words. Always good to receive. The work came about after seeing a superb demonstration of the technique at Doncaster Art Club, by Anthony Barrow an Artist from Wigan

Well captured Martin. Your mum was very beautiful.

Thanks very much Carol. Funnily I’ve seen her with new eyes during this exercise. I’ve also just discovered that she was not 19 but just under 16 when the photo was taken in 1944 not 47 as I’d guessed. My painting actually makes her look even older too.

From a photo of my mum around 1947 when she would have been 19. I have never painted her before and as I lost her in September I thought it was about time. Charcoal and acrylic on gessoed lining paper 22x19approx
