It’s a excellent sketch Martin .

Good one Martin

Great sketch.

You sound a bit disappointed but the whole effect is very interesting.

Excellent work, Martin. You've got the thorny nature of this tree.

Thanks Dixie Heather Emma Marjorie and Carol. I’m happy enough with the sketch In monochrome Marjorie but yes disappointed that it cannot show the colours. I’ll have to try a colour version!

Love drawing like this. Its good on that paper.

The deep indented grain of the trunk and branches together with the outward curl of the twigs and thorns, shout Hawthorn Martin. I like this parred back example, it enables you to see the tree.

Thanks Val-Irene Cheryl Fiona - you know your trees!

A lovely prickly Hawthorn, the sketch works well on that textured paper.

Very good Martin.

En Plein air sketch of one of the hawthorns planted about 12 years ago near home and still wearing its tree tube. I was drawn to the various textures and colours of the bush of which some are parasitic plants. Unfortunately this sketch fails to show them very well. Unipin pen on the last page of my small sketchbook of very rough Lokta handmade paper from Nepal 11x15cm
