Those washes have settled in a way which gives that sense you were looking for. Not being a water colourist, how long did this take and which colours did you use Martin?

Well done Martin, this is heavy on brooding atmosphere.

Excellent use of washes Martin , they have give sharp edges where needed and softness when between. Be interesting as Marjorie asks to know the colours you have used I think I have couple spotted , apart from the hint of purple .

Full of atmosphere and broodiness.

Dramatic colours, nicely painted.

Thanks Marjorie Lewis Dixie. The colours used are French ultramarine, permanent yellow deep and alizarin crimson and it took more washes than usual which need to dry before the next so I worked on it for a few minutes each day for several days. It is probably considered overworked tbh.

Thanks Heather and Stephen

Very atmospheric Martin lovely washes.

It’s a great area to evoke drama Martin, and you’ve succeeded beautifully. Really enjoying your latest paintings.

Just as it is Martin, this place has many moods. A regular place for me, going back there end of month. You captured the rock textures well.

Very appealing painting.

Thanks Brian Fiona Carole and Diane. Always good to receive your feedback

I love this place. It can be foreboding and threatening and I’ve tried to make this painting feel that way. Watercolour on Saunders Waterford rough paper 15x11”
