How interesting and a lovely painting too

Very interesting, Martin - love the painting and the detail on the tree trunks!!

Superb artwork Martin.

This is so beautiful Martin. Love how you have painted the background and how the colours merge so harmoniously. Such expressive trees and branches.

Great sense of mystery about it Martin. Super use of colour.

Lovely colours, and very atmospheric, especially the upper branches.

This is full of atmosphere Martin.

Thanks for adding your very welcome comments Heather David Stephen Carole John Jenny and David W.

Very good Martin.

I like your title Martin and what a sight it must be to see lots of Dragonflies sunbathing. Love the sinuous branches.

So very effective. I like how the background washes show through those lovely sinuous tree limbs.

Thanks Kal Fiona and Spencer. I wish I’d seen the dragonflies myself Fiona as I’ve always been fascinated by them and only ever seen 2 or 3 at most together

Thanks very much Stephen

This definitely caught my eye. I love the textures and colours.

Super painting Martin, great trees and markings, the whole composition is very atmospheric.

Thanks very much Jacqueline

Just spotted this on the banner Martin, rather lovely, especially the colour and light you have added. It has a magical feel to it.

Thanks very much Tessa. Glad you feel something from it

My wife showed me these interesting oaks at Lindholme Hall and told me about hundreds of dragonflies which were found sunning themselves on the fallen branches. I sketched the tree en plein air with Fude pen and later added colour in studio. The upper branches show black in some lights and silvery in others. This was caused by underpainting with acrylic medium and brushing over some branches again. I enhanced the silvery outlines here and there with pencil. On Moulin de Roy rough 16x12”
