This is lovely and what a view

Lovely! Just coming into blossom in Northumberland and one of my intentions is to get out there….if the rain stops!

It's just lovely Martin.

Excellent painting Martin.

Lovely view, and beautifully painted. We’ve got a lot of Blackthorn blossom locally at the moment, especially down by the river.

Yes definitely an upside to this spring Martin! A very good painting.

A lovely capture of countryside blackthorn blossom in it's setting, nice painting.

Blackthorn or Hawthorn - I have trouble telling the difference, especially with the seasons being out of kilter; but whatever it is, it's certainly been out in profusion. And you've caught it without yielding to the tempation of trying to paint every blessed flower; it adds to the painting's depth and, for me at least, a slight sense of foreboding: not sure why!

Thanks for having a look and commenting Heather Marjorie Kal Stephen Jenny Karen Willie and Robert. Really appreciate it. Don’t get caught by Storm Kathleen Marjorie. Robert the big difference between is in the leaves. Blackthorn have pointy oval leaves and hawthorn have 5 fingered cartoon hand leaves. I get the foreboding. It’s probably the intense shadows?

A great sense of depth to this Martin and I love the sense of movement and light in it.

A lovely, uplifting, landscape Martin, with the promise of sunnier days ahead.

A lovely painting -I like your composition with the strong lead in, and the way you have painted the Blackthorn. I'm glad you've found an upside to this seemingly endless rain!

Thanks very much David Maureen Carole Hilary and Spencer. Your kind comments much appreciated

A lovely painting and I like the title.

Thanks Valerie. Good of you to comment

This soggy Spring has the odd upside and one of them is the fantastic display of blossoms, particularly Blackthorn. I sketched this local view in Westwoodside, N Lincs in ink and added watercolour in studio. On Canson 1557 cartridge paper A3
