Pushing through the heather

What lovely texture the paper gives, especially the heather. And a gorgeous pop of colour from the fungi.

A wonderful painting Martin. The rough textured paper has worked so well and the toadstool and grasses are superb.

Terrific work.

I agree with everything that's been said, the granulation in the rough paper really adds to the beauty of this painting.

Thanks everyone. I find the rough paper works best when you use lots of pigment and water and leave to dry at an angle

Beautiful rendition of this fascinating fungus. Seen a few in the woods lately. Really like this Martin.

Walking amongst the ponds on Hatfield Moors on Wednesday I spotted these lovely fly agarics pushing up through the Heather. There were quite a few around but most had passed their handsome phase and gone large, flat and pale. Watercolour on Rough Canson Moulin de Roy paper 10x8” approx
