Chapel Bridge, Newlands
Derwent Line Makers. 24x17 cm. The fourth in a series of bridges I have been drawing in Cumbria’s Newlands Valley. This one is near the hamlet of Little Town and is named after the nearby tiny Newlands Church which has Beatrix Potter connections. The real Lucie of Mrs Tiggywinkle fame would have known it. The bridge is very narrow, much to the consternation of visiting drivers with shiny new cars whose adventures with the tight squeeze are well documented along the stone parapets.
