Yes, winter but no snow. The branches of the large dead tree stand starkly against a stormy sky. This is a composite image which was executed vigorously from memory, photographs and using considerable licence. Mainly in acrylic, but with substantial use of charcoal, some ink and some acrylic marker. On heavyweight watercolour paper primed with four coats of gesso, the burnt sienna ground does show in places. The size, 68cm x 48cm gave me space to be more free with mark making
