Waiting for the tide by Tony Purdy
This picture was developed from a demo in the SAA magazine, I found it really useful for learning to work in layers and slowly building up the image. I used a pinkish ground similar to that used by Seago rather than the grey blue of the demo. It was also done on a wooden panel 12" X 10" which I first sealed with a diluted PVA solution and then primed with gesso tinted with a touch of Cadmium red.
