Last sentence should be 'A bit of fun really' but the description box had other ideas about including this!!

lol Thea, she looks rather startled as if she's wondering where all the spots came from! Seriously though, I do like the colours and as you know, I do like experimentation when it comes to painting. I like your spotty, spatter hare!

I just love all the colours you use and bunny just built from a few touches of paint. Very fresh and full of vitality.

I think he/she looks a bit worried! - what have I caught?

Thank you very much Louise, Avril and Marjorie for your comments - very kind of you. It is actually surprisingly liberating not to use a brush and to have even less control over the watercolour paint than usual. It was almost like it was painting itself - I just flicked the paint and waited to see where it landed. You did made me laugh, Marjorie, perhaps he has the bunny version of measles!

Hi Thea interesting idea your very innovative, it would be interesting to see how it looked if you wet the paper with a brush where the head is and kind masked around it and allowed your colours to bleed . It looks fab though well done Thea.

Thank you, Dennis. I did have to mask round the head to make sure the spatters didn't go everywhere making me lose the shape. However, it might be a great idea to do what you suggested and wet the paper and let the colours bleed. I don't do a lot of wet in wet - mine is more 'wet beside wet' and then I let the colours merge, so it would be an added experiment for me to use wet paper as I never do that. I never used to be brave enough to experiment - so perhaps this is a step forward for me!!

Another winning piece, Thea! I love how the washes merged together with such unexpected effect. Beautifully done!

Go on Thea try dennis's idea. This is a smashing pieces and so free in the sense that you thoughtabout it but only for advance planning.

Great spatter and eyes Thea

I might have to have a go at this Thea it looks fun and in your case has worked well!

Thank you very much Seok, Derek, Dennis and Christine for your kind comments. Do have a go Christine - I know you enjoy a challenge! It is fun and is remarkably relaxing to do as you have absolutely no control over what happens so you can just sit back and watch what happens.

I think this has worked out ever so well Thea! You have a very innovative mind and whatever you try seems to be just marvellous. I saw a short programme where the artist made a tree by dropping paint of different strengths on wet paper and the result was fantastic.

You&#39;ve controlled the spatters very well Thea. Full of vibrant colours, love the whiskers and eyelashes too.<br />His look says &quot; how dare you splatter me with paint!&quot; Lol!

Thank you very much Satu and Sarah for such encouraging and kind comments. I agree, Sarah - he does look a bit outraged, doesn&#39;t he! Satu, I have seen a few different ways of applying watercolour that doesn&#39;t involve a brush, all worth a try. I haven&#39;t seen an all spatter one anywhere, so perhaps I have started a trend, lol!

Thank you, Glennis - very kind of you.

I spy, no, I spot, no, I spatter a Hare !!! Great fun, is this another challenge idea?

On form with these last two, Thea. Such fresh colours

Thank you Debs and Gudrun for your nice comments. Could be another challenge, Debs, - who knows. It is great fun to work this way, and any strong, instantly recognisable shape would work well done in this style.

Great idea Thea and well executed! He looks a bit surprised......

Thank you Fiona. I think he either looks surprised or affronted at being covered in multi-coloured zits!!

I&#39;m going on a Jake Winkle workshop soon, this reminds me of his work have you seen it? great job!!

I absolutely love this Thea! As a beginner in watercolour I think I&#39;m still at the &#39;draw a bit and fill the lines in with paint&#39; stage; whereas I aspire to be a bit more &#39;free&#39; in my work.

About the Artist
Thea Cable

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
