Another light, fresh watercolour Thea, I like the vigniette aproach. Very understated but it works well.

Thank you very much, Stephen, very kind of you. I was going for the softer, more muted look with this one, just for a change really and I usually end up with the understated look as I am always trying to avoid over-working a painting. It is hard to know when to stop, isn't it?

What a lovely well thought out painting Thea. Just enough detail and good idea to include those two people for added interest. The white lighthouse against the light sky works as well!

I think this has to be my favourite - everything works so well together!! Love the flags and the glimpse of blue sea in the background - it's a 10 from me"" Just a pity you've got knocked of the first page by yet another MP!! I was going to post something today but I wonder if it's worth the effort!!

Fantastically fresh watercolour as always Thea, full of light and interest. Sorry to see it is already on page three!! I hope people get the chance to see it ,as I think you will find they will love this one!!

Thank you very much Louise, Debs and Fiona for such generous comments. Debs, it is a pain when you end up on page 4 in a very short time due to MP's, but I have just put my foot in it with this one as I fired both barrels before realising the gentleman was autistic. Feel an absolute heel now - that'll learn me!

Looks like an idyllic spot (in the weather depicted, anyway) - and the figures work: I always approach figures in watercolour with considerable trepidation. By the way - take a look at one of the latest postings: an old friend of ours is back!

gorgeous work Thea, had to hunt around a bit for this one today and only knew it was here somewhere after reading your repost to the latest mp, recognised it straight away as one of yours with the super pale colour washes and the little additions of extra interest such as the flags on the pole and the people this time as well, and of course the amount of white which always give your work such a lovely fresh look, I wouldn't worry too much about that mp being autistic doesn't sound like it was them who did the actual posting and whoever did would be able to read and understand the website recommendations perfectly well!

Bright and fresh with lovely colours, a delightfully harmonious scene Thea.

Lovely watercolour, the addition of figures work well

Thank you very much Robert, Ros, Gudrun, Val and David for your positive feedback - greatly appreciated.

This is a really beautiful, charming and pleasant painting Thea! Like Debs said, everything works well together and I very much like to see the figures there. 10 points from me too!

Thank you so much, Satu! Glad you like the figures - I do think on reflection that they add some life to a scene like this.

First things first - you must on no account feel so badly about yourself. You did what others have done and others were about to do. You may, in fact, have prevented further hurt feelings. As for your painting of the lighthouse above, it is just beautiful with a characteristic freshness to which others have referred. I'm so glad I found it! Your work is always charming and hence the inevitable following that you have established. Keep up the good work, Thea!

What a very generous and lovely comment, Lionel. I do feel bad if I have been unfair as I wouldn't deliberately set out to upset anyone, although MP's do rather make a red mist appear in front of my eyes. Your review of my painting is wonderfully encouraging and I thank you most sincerely for taking the time to stop by and give me your feedback.

Hi Thea, missed your work of late, but beautiful, light and delicate as always. Know how you feel about MP, but after being away for a while, I always look back at what I've missed.

I really had to search for this one Thea. Well done. Keep those comments coming about MPs. How insensitive of those managing the site to select some of LGs for the best of the month, she is still swamping the site with four every day. And it is a shame that the latest one Is defined by his autism. There are some beautiful images online by autistic painters.

Beautiful painting again, so fresh Thea, well done.

Charming Thea! and I do like your figures too.

Thank you very much Peter, Carole and Sarah - much appreciate your lovely encouragement. David, thank you for stopping by to look and comment - I do appreciate it. As for decisions that POL make... well, I continue to be baffled by quite a few of them. I had the same thought as you and if was running the show, it wouldn't haven't been what I would have done. P.S. Can I ask you where I would find some of your paintings, as I can't find you on the gallery? Or do you have your own website? I would love to see what you get up to.

Just love your delicate paintings.

Thank you so much, Karyl.

Oh at last a painting I want to look at ! I love everything about it and you were so right about the roof! Bravo Thea!

What a lovely thing to say, Avril - thank you so much.

I just love your lighthouse paintings, Thea - they always project a light, airy atmosphere that is so uplifting and fresh, and this one is no exception. Your signature glowing washes are also evident here, which makes the painting so very attractive.

Thank you very much for such lovely praise, Seok. All the kind encouragement is very valuable to me.

Hi Thea, it was just a general comment really that quite a few of us have a look through the days postings or any others that we might have missed sometimes quite late at night, that comment of mine was done quite late if I remember right, nothing untoward meant by it at all, I hope you didn't take it mean anything like that! Like I say, quite a few of us trawl though quite late at night to see what if any new postings that catch our interest haven been posted

I was immediately drawn to this scene (well, it is a lighthouse after all, lol!) with its all white buildings and the touch of dark blue sea in the background. However, the roofs were actually dark grey slate, which didn't help the painting at all so I decided to play around with these and give them more warmth to balance the cooler blue/violet shadows. I don't normally put people in my landscapes, but this time the people were allowed to stay as the lighthouse is a popular tourist attraction and visitors are an integral part of it's purpose today. Watercolour on Fabriano Artistico Extra White 300lbs.

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
