I think that it works very well indeed! Love the rust on the boat and also all your nice, fresh colours too :)

As usual, Thea, your colours are fantastic and really brighten up a day! Lovely.

Lovely study Thea, the lines of the boat are perfect.

Really lovely Thea how did you get on with your Patchings entry ? :)Linda

Thank you Sarah, Ann, Robert, Gudrun and Linda for such lovely encouragement. Linda, I got a Highly Commended for a boat painting (ironic, eh, considering I am now thinking that I have done too many boat ones lol!)

Haha isn't that typical Thea! that you should get a highly commended for painting the very subect you feel you have done too many off! everyone loves to see your paintings on here, they are always so lovely and lightly rendered in the special 'Thea' way, we always know when a little time has gone by that it is time to be on the look out for another of your works, you have covered the whole of the paper with this one then, and it looks super, lovely bright colours and as always just enough detail of the boat and its paraphanalia on board and all around it and just enough sea in the background and sky above it, on and thanks so much for your lovely comment on my latest venture into my newly discovered aceo miniature artworks, i say artworks now rather rather than just pastel works because i am beginning to think that the sky is the limit and that maybe i need to start thinking outside the box, or outside the comfort of the familiar, anyway bye for now Thea xx

Refreshing and joyous Thea........beautiful colours.

Thank you very much Ros and Fiona for you much appreciated kind words and comments.

Congratulations on your Patchings news, not at all surprised you had a successful boat :) This is as colourful and fresh as always, good luck with your new quest.

A lovely colourful painting Thea, I like the bins, they add interest to the composition.

Lovely picture of this weathered working boat.Well done with your HC

Lovely jolly little vessel Thea, and the colours in the bins are just fabulous. Well drawn too!

Thank you very much Lesley (and for Patchings congrats - although I didn't do as well as you!), Christine, David and Kim for your positive comments. I do still love painting boats but have found lately that I am painting them very much in the same way every time. Feeling that this can't be the best idea, I have decided to try to think of other ways I can portray them - hence a break from them to re-assess the way forward.

your work just gets better all the time - Super

Loving the boats the bins and the title, can't wait to see what your next venture will be!

Hey Thea just seen your comment on Denis Pickles portrait where you mentioned Hectors success at winning the Young Artist portrait category in a competition, I think we would all love to see that work, are you going to post it here?

Ros, Hector's painting is on my gallery (think it is under Thea's Paintings 2) and is an oil pastel work called Poseidon Rising From The Sea. He did it when he was 11 and I posted it just after that. I just loved the slightly scary look on Poseidon's face. Apparently, according to Hector, Poseidon wasn't the nicest of people!

I like your boat paintings Thea and congratulations on your Patchings result, I had a little introduction to watercolours the other day the tutor kept telling me that I was still painting like it was acrylic : ) not a very good start,

Thank you Michael, Debs and William for your very nice comments - much appreciated. Thank you, William, for the Patchings congrats - very nice of you. Hope the watercolour painting goes well!

Those bins add interest and are particularly well drawn. Super colour as always!

Hi Thea glad you were highly commended you deserve it!!! I tried through the Artist Mag this time to see if I could compete with the more experience artist ,and I got Highly commended for a painting of two dogs!!! so see you on the website!!lol :)Linda

Congratulations Thea! You deserve it!!! A beautifully light and fresh watercolour of a boat and fish tanks(?) here. The colours are superb and the atmosphere is summery.

Hello Thea, I see that you're off to worship at the Reid Shrine and I envy you hugely. He must be getting on now. Will he ever come to Italy I wonder...? Anyway, do let me know how it goes - though I rather suspect that the aswer to that will be reflected in your work! I've just spent the weekend at the local old people's home 'entertaining' residents by painting potraits of some of them (the braver ones). A wonderfully rewarding experience - I might post a few in the coming days.

Hi Kim - the plan is to go along to the course and try and absorb better techniques, better decision making skills and more boldness. What I don't want to do is come home a clone of Charles Reid. However, I do want to apply all I learn to my style of painting. I am really looking forward to watching the maestro paint - I have his DVD's but nothing can compare to seeing him put a painting together in the flesh and to be able to ask any question that I want. I don't think I have heard of him going to Italy, but you never know. He is getting on as you say, but he seems very committed to teaching so I am sure he will keep going for a bit longer. Your weekend of portrait paintings sounds wonderful and please do post the results as I know they will be impressive (and make me jealous lol!).

My first thought when I saw this scene was that 'those wretched wheelie bins get everywhere'! - but then they aren't really those sort of bins - more fishy ones I think. Anyway, it made me smile so hence the painting. However, I think this might be my last last boat painting for a while as I think I need a change of subject now. Some areas of this one didn't work out quite as I had hoped for, but perhaps that is to the good as it could give me the final push to seek out some new things to paint. Watercolour on Langton 200lbs. 30cm x 40cm

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
