A lovely happy portrait Thea. Her skin tones are so well painted. How I wish that I had a complexion like this! Also, I like the way that you've used a slightly paler than usual background on this one. The viewer is drawn to Lucy's happy face. Overall, it's a super portrait!

Lovely portrait and I agree with Louise on the background. Radiant smiles can be very difficult to pull off, but you have certainly done a wonderful job here.

Thank you so much to each and every one of you for your very kind comments. Joy, sorry about losing your comment but I tried 3 times to load this painting and I kept getting an error message. When I came back to try again I realised that it had loaded itself the 3 times and I then deleted 2 images not realising that you had commented on one of them. I do apologise as every comment is so valuable to me and I appreciate you taking the time to add it again.

Thank you so much Petra and Fiona for your lovely comments. Fiona, I am surprised that you mention the eyes, because I always feel I struggle with them. I fret over the expression in them for ages usually, so I am really pleased if you think they are ok.

A wonderfully affectionate portrait Thea. You're so brave to paint teeth - and succeed. I've never managed (my toothy subjects always end up looking like Draculas!). Does your daughter agree that the resemblance is good? I've been disconcerted recently with two portraits that I thought were spot on, but the sitters barely recognised themselves!
