Always a pleasure viewing your paintings Thea.

Lovely and loose and watery - just might for water lilies.

Not your usual subject matter Thea but you've managed to produce a lovely painting in your own style. The subject doesn't appeal to me so I don't think I will be giving it a go. I have tried the 30 minute challenge though!

You've made a good job of this one anyway Thea. I like the greens you have surrounding the water lily. Very pleasing to look at.

These challenge thingys do make us try different subjects and even different painting techniques which can only be a good thing I feel. Good result Thea and there's the added satisfaction of knowing that you tried something new, even the greens!

Thank you Kal, Linda, Christine, Dorothy and Louise for your kind comments. Now that I look at the painting on my screen, I think it is a bit lacking - probably something wrong with the tone and depth. The Big Painting Challenges judges would have a field day with it!! Christine, I didn't fancy the subject much either but I just wondered if I could raise my enthusiasm to produce a painting of it. I think if I tried again, I could do a bit better, but I am not going to bother as it isn't my sort of subject.

Well done on tackling all those greens, loving the pink lily, will check this one out on the SAA page.

Lovely subject and it has your stamp on it, Thea.

Lovely work Thea , very well handled

Water Lily (SAA 'Our Photo, Your Painting' Challenge) - Watercolour Yet another challenge - sorry. I am finding doing these is really making me work outside my comfort zone - very good for me as I can be a bit of a wimp about trying new things. This is the SAA Challenge - they provide the photo and invite artists to paint their interpretation. Now, water lilies are a subject I would normally run a mile from (all that green!) but I have given it my best shot. (If anyone else fancies having a go, the photo is on the SAA webside, under Competitions).

I am a watercolourist first and foremost as I love the qualities of the medium, its riskiness and unpredictability. I started painting about 8 years ago and it has now become an integral part of my life. Hopefully, I will continue to paint into my dotage as I am given to understand that you can…
