Great painting Thalia - its a very complicated subject but you have really got the sense of the occasion. The buildings look highly intricate!

Thank you so very much, everyone, and yes, my client thinks it's "pretty" and wants a gold frame [typically Maltese response!!!] Thanks, John, Chrissie...I've had to 'fudge' a lot of the details, as the photo was not one of the clearest...e.g. I've fudged the area under the main left hand statue, in the photo it's even more ghostly!!! Thanks, Linda, Jim, Sandra, Michael, Fiona, Heather, Brian and Alan. Really appreciate all your kind comments. Watch this space, as I'm out tonight with my phone and camera to catch our own Zebbug Festa. Lots of blues in this, as it's Our Lady's huge Festa, and she's always blue!!!

This is a commissioned painting of Nadur Festa, painted from my clients' own photograph. All through the summer here on the Maltese islands, every village town and city has their own special week of festas, with processions, like this one, where the saints' statues are paraded around the squares and roads, fireworks, pettards, and feasting for the entire week. The rich colours are magnetic, I really enjoyed painting this. It's not my village, might paint one of our village now, as it's our festa this week, as it's Santa Maria, one of the biggest of the year. It not only celebrates S Maria, but also when the relief of Malta, the convoy of ships led by the Ohio, entered the Grand Harbour during the siege in WW2
