Thank you Przemila for your kind comments. This was an emotional painting for me at the time. Fortunately it’s now gone but problems remain.

I have tried to show the awfulness of the camp, and the plight of the refugees starting from the finding of the little boy's body on a Turkish beach, and from darkness towards the light of the "promised land" of Europe and in particular England. The name Iona refers to a young lady helper at The Jungle who spoke very movingly about the camp and the crisis.
