These are getting more scarce to see nowadays, great sketch Tessa.

Thank you Alan. They are still quite common around the Cotswolds but do sometimes sell for silly figures in our local auction.

I had an hour or so quick sketching in Shipton Oliffe a small village near where I live, with a view to some paintings for a pop up Christmas fair there in December. This is a row of lovely staddle stones in the village. I didn’t realise until now that they were used to support grain stores etc. , rather than just ornamental.
