Love the light in this and those lovely pink, flowers of jewels in the sunlight. The background is dark enough to highlight the lights. Lovely Tessa.

Beautiful painting, Tessa - you've captured the light very well, and the flowers are just lovely...

Tessa, I love how you have captured the sense of a hazy, sunlit day. Very nice.

This is gorgeous Tessa, the background looks great and the flowers stand out. The light is perfect, a beautiful painting.

I love it, Tessa, and wonder which areas you're considering darkening. Darker tones would push the highlights to the fore but I wouldn't overcook things, as the light is already looking great. Bri

Many thanks Carole, Jan, Louisa, Margaret, Michael and Bri. Well I’m really happy with your comments and glad that you all seem to think the light and shadows are right! Bri, I was thinking of maybe darkening the general area behind the flowers, but I’ve actually already darkened it a couple of shades, so in view of the positive words, I think I’m going to leave as is. Thanks again all.

All looks excellent Tessa, good solid painting.

A lovely little painting Tessa - is it inspired by Haidee-Jo? I've got a very similar one in mind, an "outdoor still life" - just got a bit of gardening to do first!

Thank you Alan and Marjorie, yes well spotted! I had just read her article in the Artist and Martin kinnear on tones etc!

Soft light, beautiful painting Tessa.

Beautiful painting, Tessa, it is good as it is.

Superb and just right, Tessa

A wonderful sunlit spot Tessa, a smasher!

You have a wonderful ability to make your paintings seem effortless Tessa. The effects are very striking and this one's no exception. A beautiful painting.

Thanks so much Carole, Cesare, Thalia, Fiona and Susan for your kind comments and encouragement . Susan, not sure that effortless is the word!

I like this. Such a lightness of touch.

Thank you Dave.

Tessa this is interesting and extremely effective, just awesome!

12x10” oil on board started in the garden over the Easter weekend and finished indoors. Not sure I’ve made the background dark enough as strong sunlight when I started but not later- the joys of plein air!
