Superb painting Tessa , according to the forecast it’s going to be a bit like that here later on .

You’ve caught the ominous, thundery sky Tessa and the grey shadows that it casts, perfectly.

Great use of time and resources Tessa and a really good outcome for it.

Like the textures, Tessa, that have enhanced the mood of the passing storm.

Great sky Tessa there’s a lot of atmosphere in this painting

It really looks murky Tessa ( that’s a word you hear now from the weather people ). I wouldn’t like to be out in this…not had any storms yet here, maybe they’ll pass us by. I always think it frees you up when you paint over an “oldie”. Good one!

Wonderful dramatic sky Tessa.

The lights make the sky all the more ominous.

Many thanks all. It was quite fun to paint this observing the sky and storm outside, but being cosy and safe indoors!

Gloriously thunderous!

Thank you Heather, glorious to look at, not so good to be out in it!

Great snapshot of the light and weather in the British countryside

Super painting Tessa. Exellent interpretation. I feel the rain coming and I'm staying indoors.

I like the threatening skies and the whole sinister, dangerous, feel to this Tessa. I think painting over scenes gives the painting a deeper richness.

Super painting Tessa.

Love the atmosphere and use of paint Tessa.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I do feel I captured the feel of the day and it was fun painting during the storm, something I haven’t done before and as close I was going to get to Plein air in this instance!

Well, how appropriate, a clap of thunder just as I am typing!! What a great painting Tessa.

I am looking at this on my laptop which shows the light, colour and texture very well. Makes a difference.

Thank you Diane. Hope you don’t have too much lightning! Yes, what you view on does make quite a difference. I only have an iPad or iPhone, and I know neither is great for viewing art but I don’t use a laptop any longer.

Great, Tessa.

8x8” oil painted over a previous landscape and leaving some of the original as it seemed to fit. We have had a huge thunderstorm over the last hour and a half so I have painted this during that, roads flooded for a while but seem to have gone down quickly.

Although I did a year's Foundation Course at Cardiff art college after leaving school, I hadn’t painted much in the interim, except for a few…
