Storm Clouds Gathering

Comments

Like it Tessa , I see trees against a sky that’s full of clouds of different colours, a sun reflecting in the left side along with the trees . It’s been one of those days here coat on coat off absolutely bounced down with rain .

You let rip here Tessa……which is probably what the weather did. It’s charged with energy and static and a good helping of atmosphere. I love it, and would frame and hang it. It would go very well with my colour scheme….😂

I like the colouring and the thick application of paint. It has an odd feeling of movement as if the storm is gathering pace!

I see a beautiful landscape , love it!!!

I see a bit of Van Gogh actually…..the movement….

Aha thank you all for looking and your kind comments. I’m always fascinated by how people see the same painting differently , and I’m pleased that some see movement here. Fiona, give it time to dry!

Lovely imaginative palette and great impasto style Tessa. I see roads, trees and an open cast coal working.

The colours work really Well, good one.

I love the energy you have captured Tessa - it really stands out.

The colours evoke a hot climate, burnt grasses and trees. The sky, definitely stormy and full of movement, and yes, very Van Gogh.

Like the others I'm seeing a tree filled landscape under a turbulent sky. When you painted it I wonder what was in your mind, or do you paint it free of thought...is that how abstracts work? I've no idea.

This is really pleasing to the eye. I see a lovely French landscape.

Thank you Michael. Open cast coal mining? Interesting, hadn’t expected that, but it was definitely open to interpretation and I’m pleased that you see that.

Many thanks Stephen and Shaun. You both use colour very well so am pleased with that.

Thank you Andrew. Yes there was an idea of heat. 👍🏻

Like this a lot Tessa!

Well Lew, where to start! I didn’t have an end result in mind, this just developed as I worked on it. I had started a small oil a while ago with an idea of shapes and colour noticed on a walk (that’s probably where many of my ideas start) and didn’t complete it. This was painted over that, so the circular tree shapes on the left were there as a base. I then glazed the whole thing with an orange mix to unify it, and built the landscape from that. I wanted to use impasto and a mix of brush and knife which I enjoy doing, and to keep it loose and, well, abstract! I’m really pleased that people see different things in it as I wanted to leave something (detail?) to the viewer’s imagination. Hope that all makes sense! Thank you.

Many thanks Heather. French is good! Thank you all for reading and taking seriously my asking what you see. I’m never sure if people read the description. 😊

Thanks so much Sarah, we must have been writing at the same time!

Well Tessa I’m seeing two fast flowing rivers meeting in the foreground cutting off trees in the left and a third dark river in the distance in front of a forest. All very hot and turbulent!

A truly beautiful Painting Tessa.

Fab! Thank you Martin.

Many thanks George also.

Intriguing landscape with lots of lovely impasto work and the movement of light with that orange Tessa.

Thank you Carole. 👍🏻

I love the impasto work Tessa, it's so strong and full of energy. I immediately thought it was of hay bales in an English (Cotswolds) country field, beneath a stormy sky.

Ah yes that’s another thought! Thanks Hil.

Really like this, so eye catching.

Thanks so much Rachel.

Great painting Tessa!

Thanks so much Michael and Guy. So pleasing to have fellow artists comment- especially positively!

Just seen this beauty Tessa and love it. I see it as a landscape from another more colourful planet, one with a fast-moving wind system giving great sky effects. Great colours and textures.

Fascinating idea Sandra! Thank you. Another one I hadn’t thought of. 😊

I like these warm palette. The relation sky-land , top -bottom is well observed

Thank you so much Dmitry.

A small abstract leaving the rest to your imagination! Some brush some knife over an orange base. Comments welcome. Tell me what you see! Partly inspired by the odd weather today here, a mix of sunshine and heavy downpours!

About the Artist
Tessa Gwynne
