Across The Fields (en Plein Air)

Comments

This is a beautiful painting, I love it.

This is beautifully painted Tessa.

Love it Tessa, beautiful.

Like this a lot Tessa and so small too!

This is super Tessa. I think it is a lovely, impressionistic painting with super pastel colours and a nice sense of distance to it.

Well done you for going out and doing it! ( I’m still to get moving!) Like the palette and you got the feeling of the “ journey” around and up through the fields. Looks a lovely walk.

Thanks so much Valerie, Dixie, Denise, Heather and David. Thank you all for taking the time to look and comment, especially favourably! Thanks also Marjorie. Yes I’ve been itching to get outside painting, at least from the car. Someone said recently on the forum, about getting paint in the car, on yourself etc, and I’d forgotten just how easy that could be!!

Love this, great energy here!

Thank you Thalia, much appreciated!

This is lovely Tessa. I love the curving shapes within the painting and your use of colour.

I like it, and well done for doing this en plein air, something I've never done (unless drawing in hospital waiting rooms counts).

Many thanks Spencer. Also thank you Lew. Yes I’ve also done the secretive hospital waiting room sketches, definitely counts for nerve if nothing else!

Love this Tessa, especially your swirly brushstrokes wgich make this landscape so alive.

Thanks so much Carole, always appreciate your kind comments.

Great work Tessa.

Thanks very much Chris.

Brilliant Tessa! Love the way you swirl us through the landscape, like a dance in paint. I haven’t had chance to take the oils out yet but keep having the odd go with watercolours…..easier and quicker in the cold.

Thanks Fiona, yes oils are a faff to take out and about, but I do enjoy them when I make the effort!

I really love how you have painted the lay of the land Tessa; just beautiful!

Many thanks Karen.

Enticing pathway I really like this Tessa.

Thank you Carole. I now feel I should have looked around the corner to see where the path went! Maybe another time. 🤭

I can see why you chose this view. The curves are delicious Tessa

Thank you Martin, love that description!

Wonderful Tessa, this is a great example of the S shape that Robert Brindley was talking about in his article in The Artist, May 23 page 39.

Ah yes , I was just reading that this week, a very interesting article. Didn’t realise I had used the S, not really intentional. Thank you Frank.

Finally got a sunny day a week ago and stopped at a roadside gate looking across the fields, not far from home, started en Plein air (from my car) and completed at home. I was attracted by the shape of the fields going into the distance and the sight of spring sunlight, though I have toned it down a little as it all seemed a bit bright when I got it home! Good to be painting outside again. Oil on board approx 10x 8”.

About the Artist
Tessa Gwynne

I have returned to painting over the last few years having relocated from Cardiff to the Cotswolds in 2009 and joined the Guiting Power Art Group. Although I did a year's Foundation Course at art college after leaving school, I hadn’t painted much in the interim, except for a few attempts here and…
