I like this one in pastel, I like the definition of the pastel strokes giving it more life, but the oil painting is good too.

I like them both Terence, this one seems crisper.

Thanks for the comments folks, I tend to favour the pastel version but there are some subtleties in the oil that don't come over in the photo sadly.

This is painted in pastel on 500 grit wet and dry paper 12" x 8" and based on the same photo as on oil painting I have posted today in my miscellaneous folder. The effect is quite different as was the time scale, this took me only 2 hours to paint, the oil considerably longer. I am not sure which I prefer, both have their good and bad points. I like the wet and dry paper as it holds the pastel firmly and is capable of taking a number of layers - many more than pastel papers.
