This is lovely. I have a heap of pots like this and although I've done a couple of sketches they are yet to be painted. This has inspired me to do so.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have painted terra cotta pots many times and never cease to wonder at the range of colours they exhibit. I like the warmth of the pots and walls contrasting the cool colours in the watering can ( a devil to get where I did!) and the path. I love mixing greens trying to get the subtleties right, I'm still working on it.

This is painted on a canvas 12" x 16". It was primed with acrylic gesso before being given a toned undercoat of thinned oil paint. The paints used were a mix of W & N Artisan and Jackson's own brand water soluble oils. The picture was taken in the corner of a large garden where odd pots were stored etc. I loved the colours and textures and tried to convey them.
