Lovely and colourful Sunil

A lovely bright painting , definitely should be called Beaky that beak looks lethal.

Very colourful!!

A great character Sunil!

Thank you Heather, Paul, David, Carole, and David for your heart warming comments. I love hearing from LP readers. I decided to call the parrot Atticus after my favourite literary character : from "To kill a Mockingbird". I must admit that when i saw the beak with its whitish markings in the original photograph, I was greatly worried. How would i execute it? And then subconsciously I just ran a fine dryish brush horizontally across the page, and Voila, my problem was solved ! I now feel more confident on drawing birds.

Certainly a colourful character Sunil, though I’d never have guessed that this was a watercolour painting, the paint looks quite thick.

I wanted to give the bird a "body" hence the paint is not watery! I was amazed that LP featured it in the Letters to Editor page in the Jan 22 issue!

The Nov issue of LP on Pg 67 has Kerry Bennett's parrot for us to paint. This is my interpretation in watercolour on Canson Aquarelle 300 gsm paper. It was great fun and challenging esp. painting the feathers. My friend looks a bit thin but then there was a shortage of food supplies during Covid as people stayed indoors! Nothing i could do to fatten him up as it was too late for me by then, but he is happy. I named him after one of my favourite literary characters.
